Welcome back to Term 4 . . .

12 October 2017

Dear parents and whanau,

I hope you all have had lovely school holidays and as I write this the sunshine is back in full force and with the blue skies we cannot help but feel revitalized, refreshed, renewed and ready for the next couple of exciting months leading up to Christmas.

Last term the children were totally engaged and focused and learning was full steam ahead in Room 9. It didn’t matter what the topic was, your children were onto it! This term we have some engaging physical challenges for them – Athletics Day is on Friday 27th October. Please make sure they have suitable footwear on that day. Also, children are encouraged to wear mufti in their house colours. Swimming begins in Week 3, every day for 2 weeks, so get everything ready – swimming togs, dry towel, swimming cap (free in you are new to our school) and goggles in a suitable carry bag and a spare plastic bag to put their wet clothes in. Please ensure everything is named. Our class will be leaving school at 12.05 for their session at 12.20.

A summer reminder – school sunhats are a compulsory part of the summer uniform. I like to keep their hats at school, if possible.

All parents are welcome to view Room 9’s Long Term Plan and Room 9’s weekly plan of learning. These two documents show what your children are learning during the term in each subject area and what they are learning each week. These are kept to the left of the children’s name-tags on the whiteboard.

Monday 23rd October is a Public Holiday as is Friday November 17. School will be closed on both those days.

Some of our Room 9 children will be reading Prayers of the Faithful and taking up the Offertory at our school Mass at 9am on Thursday 16th November. It would be lovely if you are able to attend this Mass. Also, Room 9 will be hosting Values Assembly on Monday 20 November. Our Parish/School Mass is at 10am on Sunday 26th November and it would be fabulous if all of our children could meet me at 9.45am outside Room 1 on that day.

I am looking forward to catching up with everyone, all the news, the smiles, and the wonderful people and families that make up our learning community.

I will try to keep up with the blog this term and please have a look at all the photos from Term 3 that I have loaded on during the holidays.   http://room9loveslearning.blogspot.co.nz/

Father Michael and Father Graeme came to visit . .

Visiting Friends

Thanks, Callum, (and Nico) for sharing your pets with us. They were lovely little rodents and what a wonderful cage you have for them. We enjoyed learning how you care for your pets and how you exercise them.

Celebrating Matariki

Last term we celebrated Matariki and with our buddy class we made some collaborative posters that now decorate our wall. :)

FROSTY MORNINGS! And some new pix on the NEW PIX page. :)

Hello, little lovelies!

Hi everybody . . . how are you all?

I hope you are all learning lots, having fun, and being the awesome lovelies you always are!

I am in Mississippi, USA. It is very hot - about 28 degrees each day and night! Our house is 2 blocks from the ocean. The area we stay in is called the Gulf Coast. I am loving it here and I am very fortunate to be visiting my family here.

Last weekend we went into a big city called New Orleans. It is in the state of Louisiana. We went to a show called FINDING NEVERLAND. It was exciting, colourful and wonderful. The story is about the man who wrote PETER PAN. His name was James Barrie. The play tells of how playing imaginative games with children of his friend  inspired him to write Peter Pan. The pirates were really exciting and a bit scary! :)

Here is a photo of my aunt and me at our local coffee shop.

Big hugs to everyone . . . .
:)
